You are not the only person suffering from painful acne. Acne prone skin sucks and it is a long hard journey. Your worth and happiness doesn’t depend on how your skin looks and it doesn’t define you.
Remember that.
But…
Those breakouts...it’s hard, it hurts, it itches, it’s uncomfortable and since it’s on your face you see it and are reminded of it each day.
I get it.
Now plastering your face and caking your face in layers of makeup does have an impact on your skin situation. You feel and see your skin is worse from all that hiding behind too many layers of makeup.
Feel like you’ve started to depend on heavy thick layers of makeup when you go out. And some days you can’t even wear makeup because you have bad reactions to foundation.
You immediately break out, even with expensive foundations.
You don’t know what to do...
Let me explain.
Makeup has many ingredients inside. It's hard to understand what’s in it. But when makeup feels irritating and itching on skin it’s time to look into what you really put on your face.
Most makeup has fragrance, you know the feeling when something smells nice. It just feels better and nicer, it’s psychological. But there’s a reason makeup smells good, it’s perfume and more and more women, like you with sensitive skin, react with burning sensations, feelings of itchiness and redness.
Now there’s many ingredients in makeup, I can’t mention them all here, I’ll tire you and you won’t read it all.
Honestly, use makeup that doesn’t break out skin.
Believe me, I’ve seen the difference when a woman switches to natural “non - toxic makeup”.
Makeup that doesn’t break out skin in redness and itchiness. Covers bits and pieces. Yet skin feels breathable.
People react differently, when you're “put together”.
Good makeup feels like you wear no makeup at all.

]]>Liquid foundations on sensitive skin can be a nightmare.
Why?
Liquid foundation mostly cake and flake. You just have a hard time. Liquid tends to go patchy while at work and really busy. And you don’t really like how heavy the coverage ends up looking, when you need to use mattifying powder on your T-zone throughout the day.
I guess you now wonder if you should look for a new liquid foundation or a powder foundation.
But isn’t your real problem that you’re frustrated with using so many makeup products, to look halfway decent.
And everywhere you read the basics of the “foundation guide” is: tone, prime, moisturize, conceal, foundation, setting powder, setting spray.
So, as foundation coverage goes the standard goes something like primer -> foundation/base -> concealer -> finishing powder.
Confused?
It feels overwhelming.
Every time they reel you into their beauty counter in a beauty store, you don't like how thick they apply your makeup. Yet you feel obligated to get something you end up hating.
Ever tried to use a primer that had ZERO improvement, so you are just wary that it might be a marketing gimmick. But mostly you always end up looking overdone.
Now...
It’s a jungle out there. I get you.
In fantasy land where you have the time to leisurely put on your makeup, it's liquid. But in reality you are lucky to have 10 minutes alone, to slapdash everything together.
It’s difficult to find a liquid that doesn't make your already sensitive skin worse, so for daily wear, stick with powder foundation.
But not just any powder foundation.
They are not all made equal.
Must be a fully natural mineral based powder foundation designed to be non-reactive for sensitive skin as possible.
You’ll notice a big improvement in your skin quality, once you start using it.
Covers skin naturally with creamy texture and glow finish.
Uneven textured skin looks smooth.
Feels breathable and light. Covers all day.
It’s way easier with a multi-function powder foundation for busy people.
Reach for pure mineral powder foundation. Shockingly, it does not make your skin look dry and flat. It takes no time at all to apply/buff in.
Like speed...you’ll blend the entire powder foundation on your whole face in less than 2 minutes.
You build it up as you want. And you don't have to wash your beauty blender after.
The best powder foundation is easy and quick to apply with a brush. Leaves no powdery residue. Coverage can be light or heavy depending upon the application technique you use.
You need ONE powder foundation. That's it.
Try powder foundation for sensitive skin.

]]>Meet a RuleBreaker #wearerulebreakers
Despite having acne, Isabella refuse to hide her acne and be ashamed. I'm sure you'll gain huge value from how Isabella has become so confident.
First of all thank you so much allowing me to ask you a few questions. I see on your instagram you share some serious issues.
You’re very welcome charlotte! Thank you for asking me :)
I noticed you showed a picture - where you say: “Normalize seeing real skin”.
Can you tell what led you to do that - can you take us back to that moment? why did you suddenly have the courage to show your true self?
I have had acne since I was 9, I went on Roaccutane a few years ago which worked but at the start of this year my acne started to come back. Someone close to me had started struggling with their skin too. After seeing them get frustrated with how their skin looked I had the sudden realisation of how many years I had hidden my skin for, I decided I would no longer do that. I have accomplished so many things despite having acne and I couldn’t be bothered to keep hiding and being ashamed! I am a very strong feminist so I want to make sure everyone is confident to be themselves unashamedly.
Why do you think so many women hide behind makeup and face filters? Do you think it is social media that has pushed women to do it? or what about the beauty industry? Can you loop me in on your feelings around this topic? you also talked about comparing yourself to celebrities and beautiful people? and celebrity fan culture?
I think its only natural to want to hide behind make up and face filters. The need to do it is from a combination of social medias unattainable beauty standards, the beauty industry's fixation on ‘flawless’ skin and also how society works - women should be pretty. I refuse to be defined by how I look. You can be beautiful and have acne, you are not defined by your skin and nothing should hold you back from doing what you want! We idolise celebrities and beautiful people, people who look like they have it all and are perfect. There’s a quote I love, ‘nothing kills creativity like comparison’. I spent years comparing myself to celebrities and people in magazines, I could just see ‘ugly’ in my skin. Since I’ve actively tried to stop comparing myself to others, I have learnt to love myself, appreciate my achievements and enjoy my life so much more.
What’s your thoughts on the perfect flawless look?
I don’t think there is anything wrong with it as long as you know it is not real and it is not for everyday. I used to apply thick makeup every single day to the extent that I forgot what my actual face looked like! This meant when I saw my acne and scarring I was ashamed of it. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with looking glamorous and flawless from time to time, you should always feel confident and I know when I wear make up it feels more glamorous.
Why do you think there is so much pressure to look and behave so perfect?
I think it comes from a few places, mainly ourselves! Every woman I know puts so much pressure on herself to be perfect, constantly comparing herself to others. I think it comes from the society, for generations women have been the homemakers and kept up the perfect facade for their neighbours and husbands, now there is the pressure for women to ‘have it all’ and to balance a family, a career and look flawless at the same time! Its only recently people have started talking openly about mental health, feeling stressed and being honest about their lives. I hope with this change people will allow themselves to just be happy.
Do you think it’s a matter of a sick culture where women do anything for a “like”?
To me, women can do whatever they like, whether it is for a like or not. If it makes them feel good they should do it! But I do think ‘likes’ create a negative culture of comparison. I’m guilty of it still but trying to stop, its hard not to compare things like likes when its all you see on social media.
You have chosen in public to show on IG you have acne and the struggles you go through. Can you share some of the hard emotions and feelings you’ve had around acne? When did it start for you and what have you gone through? Take us back to the beginning?
Goodness this is a very long story! I will keep it short but I first started getting acne when I was 9. I really strongly remember boys in my class commenting on the ‘bumps on my forehead’, people stare at me in the street when I have no makeup on, people ask why i don’t fix my skin, ask if i’ve tried certain products. Having acne is very hard, it's draining and I’ve cried so much about it. The hardest thing has always been others' comments making me feel ugly and insecure. As I was so young when my acne started I believed others comments and I felt so low about my appearance. I’m also midsize and wear glasses, totally the opposite to what is considered ‘beautiful’ by society. I was embarrassed about how I looked. I have tried so many different things to get rid of my skin and nothing worked until I took Roaccutane when I was 17. It worked amazingly and gave me so much confidence. That was the first time in my life I felt pretty and I felt confident. My biggest fear once my acne went away was if it came back. I always have had small hormonal break outs and everytime I would be petrified my acne would come back. It did at the start of 2020 and I’m actually grateful I got acne again. Its been long and its been hard but my acne makes me me! It’s given me the opportunity to learn how to love myself and spread positivity to others which is the most amazing thing! I am not necessarily beautiful by society's standards but I am beautiful to me and that's all that matters now.
How do you feel about makeup?
It surprises people sometimes but I love make up! I think its a great way to express yourself creatively but also its time we spend pampering and looking after ourselves. My problem with make up, is its easy to forget what you actually look like! I didn’t realise it was normal to have pores which is crazy to think now! As long as you know the flawless, poreless skin isnt real, make up is amazing and should be enjoyed. I love wearing it to put in a bit of extra effort sometimes too.
You’re such brave women for what you do, you are what I call a Rulebreaker #wearerulebreakers - you step up against the status quo. I’m sure it’s been a hard journey to where you are today.
I love that! Thank you very much. It’s been hard but so so worth it.
Please share any advice or final thoughts that come to your head. What’s your best advice for someone who has or goes through the same skin issues like you?
The main thing is, its okay to have acne. Its normal, its hard and its painful but you will get through it. You can be beautiful and have acne and it will never define you.
Thank you so much for your honesty. You are a POWER WOMEN, I admire.
Best Charlotte

]]>Because...
Face powders make you look patchy and don't last very long.
Acne-prone skin is not always easy. Most powder foundations clog pores. Making the situation worse.
Sure you’ve tried many powder foundations. All you want, cover those bits and pieces.
Now…
It’s all about the ingredients and the quality of the ingredients used in a powder foundation, that matter.
You see, most face powders (also liquid foundations) are made with talc. Talc is a white substance that most beauty brands use. It's a cheap ingredient.
Talc is the reason, why you look cakey or patchy from most powder foundations. Talc doesn’t cover well and the reason you feel, during the day, you need to apply again and again.
So irritating...
Look at any powder in your makeup bag. Turn it over and first ingredient you see is talc.
You might think, is it possible to make powder foundation without talc?
Yes, it is.
The best foundation powder is easy and quick to apply with a brush. Leaves no powdery residue. Coverage can be light or heavy depending upon the application technique you use.
Even doubles up as a concealer if the correct brush is used. Covers under eye circles and pimples. Still you hardly tell you’re wearing powder foundation.
And...
You get dewy, light reflecting finish and it stays all day.
Try best powder foundation for acne prone skin.

I empower women to feel better about who they are.
We all have our things. But makeup should not be "hide or cover up", but more about show up, as who you are. Express who you are. Express your individuality.
That said:
Is my makeup brand perfect?
No.
Can I improve? Yes.
I’ll take you behind “the scenes”, so you understand what I face, as a small makeup company. My aim, by time, is to get bigger so I can produce less expensive items. A small company, like me, can’t produce big batches. Most makeup companies use third party contract manufacturers. It's how it’s done in the cosmetic industry, but they require huge amounts of products filled per SKU. At this stage I can’t afford.
Here’s a list of things, you should know, and where I eventually will improve. And better, why I do as I do.
Filling mineral makeup powder
I fill our mineral powder makeup ourselves by hand, here in the Danish countryside. When you fill like that, it takes way longer and more manpower is needed, than if it's done by a machine. So handling each mineral powder by hand takes way longer to do. Once I have more volume I have found a contract manufacturer that will fill in small batches. Here I might be able to fill 500 pcs per SKU. But so far so good. I`m not there yet. That means my production cost per unit (SKU) will go down.
But I’ll never be able to fill 5000 per SKU or 100.000 per SKU. When you do that you pay way less per production run. This is what “big” beauty brands do and why their cost of goods is WAY lower than mine, simply due to the volume of filling.
Handling makeup in production are small bits and pieces.
To visualize it for you. A person fills each pot with powder, puts a seal inside the pot, screws the lid on and tightens, then places a label with ingredients at the bottom of the pot. All done by hand. Places it on a tray. Then on to the next filling. It just takes way longer than what a machine does in a sec.
On the other hand I proudly produce that way for you. It just costs more to do. Simple as that.
No outer packaging
I’ve been in the beauty industry 30 years and seen how many boxes and carton boxes are thrown out in stores. Even before a product hits the shelves. I know “smart packaging” is part of branding. But I knew, I didn’t want to take part in all that waste of packaging. I refuse to put a carton box around each pot + a plastic wrap/seal on top, that you open at home and then throw out after. To look smart, no way!
So when you buy my mineral makeup you get them in a tiny chiffon bag, which I hope you’ll use again. They are great for jewelry, earrings, necklaces, rings - all sorts of tiny “things” you need to store or use in your makeup bag to keep cotton pads, tampons and earbuds or whatever. They are nice little bags.
Makeup pots aren’t zero waste
Past years, I’ve seen a huge push for “greener” makeup containers. Which I’m so happy to see coming, due to consumer demands. This is a great thing.
I did find a new solution. A new makeup pot that would “solve” itself in nature. It is perfect for me. I love nature and want to do my part. Because all my powders are “loose” (read my other article why my mineral powders are loose) I need the sifter (the open/close function) inside the foundation pot. If not, then when you open a foundation powder you end up with powder in your makeup bag. When you fly, cabin pressure will puff powder all over, without the sifter. Not good.
They are not able to make a sifter in the same material. So for now I have to stay with my pots and yes after use, you throw them in the bin.
I’ve looked into the possibility of “re-fills”, so you buy a bag of powder on your next purchase. But for you to even try to get the sifter off from the inside rim of the pot at home and place it back in place, you need a sharp knife to cut it up. You’d break the edges, and the sifter would not come back close in the pot. I’m sure you’d break a nail or two. You might thins this is too difficult.
So...can't do for now.
My ambition I’ll get there one day. Will keep pushing.
Not certified
To get a certification, like COSMOS (BE), SOIL (UK),BDIH (DE), ICEA (IT), COSMEBIO (FR) or ECOCERT (FR) many requirements are needed. So far those certification organicsations haven’t been able to align a standard for the EU. I'm are located in Denmark and we don’t have a certification body for cosmetics. So to be credible which country should I pick for a certification body? I don’t know.
When I see ECOCERT approves talc in makeup I'm like, no way. In my other article, you are able to read further on the ingredients and why I don’t want talc in my makeup.
It’s the reason why I haven’t gone that route and certified my makeup brand. I prefer to be open about what I do. Feel free to ask, if you have any questions.
Mineral makeup doesn’t smell
In most makeup, you find lots of fragrance, I didn’t want to play around with fragrance in powder makeup. I remember, as a child, whenever I would put on my Grandma’s face powder, it had a particular smell to it. Not a bad smell. In fact, if I close my eyes, I remember her because of that strong smell from her face powder.
If I add fragrance, my face powders wouldn’t be suitable for women with sensitive skin, that easily breaks out. Lots of women don’t realise fragrance can cause skin to itch. Why I didn’t want to have fragrance in my brand. So I’ve left my makeup powders as they are,100% natural, with no added fragrance to them.
My eyeshadows are different
My mineral eyeshadows are loose powder, for a reason. To press solid eyeshadow into a compact, you need water and oil, then fillers and binders, then preservatives. It’s a bit of a process and you have to use chemicals.
I don’t want that process. It’s true, it might take a bit of time to get used to my eyeshadows. They are different. But you’ll get used to it.
Never take eyeshadow directly from the pot onto the eyelid. You’ll use way too much product, and you’ll end up with “loose eyeshadow” all under your eyes.
Not so cool.
Take a wee bit of eyeshadow powder on the back of your hand. Then use the powder from there, up on your eyelids.
Imagine you are a painter, who draws a painting. They hold colours on a painter’s palette. Think the back of your hand, like a painter’s palette. Apply eyes from there. Do make sure you kind of “crush” the little particles, before you apply.
The best part, since I don’t use oil in eyeshadows, you need just ONE pot.
No need for primer. My eyeshadows stay in place, all day. Ever tried...during the day, that your eyeshadow is creasing into the little folds on the eyelid. It’s the oil causing it.
Total nightmare, right?
I promise you, they stay put all day. You don’t need a primer.
Just saying...
This is my makeup adventure.
If you have any feedback. I’m all ears. Write me on the contact form. I want to improve and fix.

]]>What thick makeup does to sensitive acne prone skin.
]]>Seriously - this has me puzzled.
I understand you want to cover skin imperfections
But what about your skin under all that makeup?
You see...
Skin issues like acne prone skin, that breaks out, is for the most part super sensitive. Gets easily irritated.
Here are a couple of things I'd like you to consider:
Several dermatologists have spoken up about these exact issues across several major publications. Where overuse of makeup, especailly foundations, can lead to skin irritation or acne breakouts.
The good news is, there's a simple and clean solution. My own - proven to work - face powder without any nasty side-effects. Super gentle on skin and easy to apply.
I named it "Mineral Powder Foundation" and my customers love it.
Now...
I can't serve everybody, but maybe I can help you...
Let's figure out if you and my Mineral Powder Foundation are perfect fit for each other.
Pernille from Denmark wrote me "I honestly don't think I could live without "Mineral Powder Foundation"...

You deserve the purest, most natural makeup possible. After all, it's your sensitive skin.
My mineral makeup is loose powder makeup. Made from crushed pure minerals. Without a trace of harsh chemicals, mineral oils, talc, fragrances, artificial colouring, synthetic alcohol, rice/corn powder or other fillers and binders.
And because I use pure ingredients to make my makeup powders, women like you, with sensitive skin, are able to move away from harmful makeup routines that irritate skin or make acne much worse.
I don't use harmful ingredients that are problematic to your health: parabens, bismuth oxychloride, carmine, lanolin, GMO, gluten, silicone, phthalates or nanoparticles.
Here's what it means for you.
1. What’s the difference between a conventional liquid foundation and mineral makeup?
Liquid foundation can contain petrochemicals like mineral oil, preservatives with parabens, artificial colouring and synthetic fragrances. With Danish Organic Make Mineral Makeup you are guaranteed vegan, pure, crushed minerals – and nothing else.
2. Does Organic Make Mineral Powder Foundation provide sufficient coverage?
Organic Make Mineral Powder Foundation gives you effective and natural coverage. You won’t have to worry about wrong colour choices, makeup runs, makeup streakes, clogged pores or cakey powdery looks ever again. Organic Make Mineral Powder Foundation gives you the power to adjust coverage while you buff powder foundation into your skin. People will comment what you've done to your skin. Your skin looks smooth with natural healthy glow. Remember to allow your moisturiser to absorb into your skin before you buff on mineral powder foundation.
3. What makes Organic Make Mineral Powder Makeup different?
Organic Make do not contain any cheap fillers that dilute the minerals. These include talc, corn flour and rice flour, and it is these that create a feel of insufficient coverage. And nasties like talc serve to dry out your skin or clog pores, and that unwanted powdery look. Since Organic Make Mineral Powder Foundation contains none of the nasties, you get not only creamy, smooth finish but also a product that goes a long way.
4. Do I need to buy a special brush to apply Organic Make Mineral Powder Foundation?
A Kabuki Brush is useful to apply Organic Make Mineral Powder Foundation, as it allows you to buff the product into your skin for that smooth, healthy finish. You can also use a moist velour sponge if your skin requires more intense coverage. All you need to start ONE pot of Mineral Powder Foundation and the Kabuki Brush. That's it.
5. Is Organic Make Mineral Powder Foundation easy to apply?
Yes, yes, and once again – yes. No more fuss in front of the mirror to apply heavy liquid foundation evenly across your face. No more cut the tube end to get last drops of foundation out. No more layers of heavy liquid foundation and concealer to hide a blemish or to try to make it disappear. With Organic Make Mineral Powder Foundation, application is super simple. You just tip tiny amount of powder into the lid of the container, swirl your Kabuki Brush around in the powder and tap the excess off on the edge of the lid then buff the powder into your skin with circular movements. And voilà – you get a gorgeous result every time. It’s fool proof makeup.
6. Do I need to use primer or finishing powder?
No, Organic Make Mineral Powder Foundation is used on its own. No primers or finishing powders are required. The quality of Organic Make Mineral Powder Foundation is so high that no other products are necessary either under the foundation or over it. You are guaranteed to get 100 percent pure minerals. Organic Make Mineral Powder Foundation provides great silky smooth coverage and lasts all day long.
7. How do I use Organic Make Mineral Powder Eyeshadow?
Organic Make Mineral Powder Eyeshadow comes in powder form for good reason. With no binders or fillers, the eyeshadow stays put on your lids all day without melting or creasing. Dip your brush into the eyeshadow and apply to the back of your hand. Then pick up small amount on the brush and blend into your lids. A little goes a long way.
8. Does Organic Make Mineral Powder Eyeshadow contain artificial dyes?
No, the eyeshadows are made with natural colour pigments from the soil, found naturally which means shades of brown. Bold colours such as pink and neon green cannot be produced from natural colour pigments. Bright coloured eyeshadows can't be made natural. Nor, have minerals been coated where the surface is artificially dyed in a lab in order to produce the desired eyeshadow or blush colour. However, Organic Make does not use these techniques.
9. Do Organic Make Mineral Powder Makeup offer sun protection?
Yes, but can’t specify the exact SPF in products. They do contain natural sun protection, but do use sunscreen if you spend time outdoors in the sun.
10. Do Organic Make Mineral Powder Makeup contain Parabens?
No, the mineral makeup collection does not contain parabens, fragrances, or other artificial and unnecessary fillers like talc, rice/corn powder, and binders.
11. Do Organic Make Mineral Powder Makeup contain Bismuth Oxychloride?
No. Bismuth Oxychloride is a filler used in mineral makeup to provide shine. Organic Make Mineral Powder Makeup does not use Bismuth Oxychloride for reasons of allergy risk, where contact often result in itches and redness.
12. Do Organic Make Mineral Powder Makeup contain animal ingredients?
No, powder wonder do not contain carmine or lanolin. You should be aware that carmine is extracted from the Cochineal Beetle and is used as red colouring in cosmetic production, particularly in eyeshadows and pink and red lipstick. Nor does Organic Make Mineral Powder Makeup use lanolin, making them suitable for vegans. I love animals , do not test products on animals. Products are made in accordance with EU cosmetic regulations, where animal testing is not allowed. Please note that the Organic Make Kabuki brush is made from synthetic taklon, which means no animal hair what so ever.
Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

]]>Hiding skin imperfections behind thick layers of makeup. You're quite sure, but you’ve started to notice skin breaks out. Here's what talc does.
]]>
You're not sure...but you've started to question talc in makeup.
Caking skin imperfections behind thick layers of foundation, can cause you problems.
It's becoming a real issue, cause your skin has never been this bad.
Now.
What you do desire is “natural healthy looking skin”.
Most makeup - be it liquid, cream or powders contain talcum powder (talc), It's the first ingredient in your makeup pot (go check).
Talcum powder is cheap white filler powder. Used in most makeup.
You tap on face powder during the day to keep shine away.
Not just once, several times, right?
Here's the thing...
Talc is pore clogging, and comedogenic. Talc is the very ingredient that causes breakouts. The more talc (powders you put on during the day, to avoid shine), the more you clog up your pores. Talc is bad for acne.
Pores are filled with talc, just like cork in a bottle.
The beauty industry doesn`t talk about talc. Cause they all use it. It's cheap fillers in makeup. You find talc, in both makeup and skincare.
Now.
You're in a bad circle. The more talc you put on, the more you clog pores.
You are not alone. Lots of women have started to question talc in makeup.
I want to tell you. I've been 30+ years in the beauty industry. I know brands are there to make profits with cheap fillers, like talc. They market all sorts of products at you.
According to American Academy of Dermatology “Even women who would not otherwise have acne, can develop acne cosmetica from wearing makeup.”
Now...
I know, you do have bits you want to cover. You may not be a makeup kind of girl or perhaps you are.
Even though you love the all-natural look, you've gone overboard with too much foundation. To cover up acne, hyperpigmentation, redness, skin irritations or breakouts.
Cause you are affraid to show your real skin.
The all-natural look, is when your partner or friends say “You look great” and think you have no makeup on.
That's definition of good makeup.
A while back I interviewed a lady, Bekki from the UK. She's amazing. She's been through a lot with her skin.
She told me...
"I've spent most of my life caking in primers, concealers, foundation, more foundation, more concealer, contour and then HAIRSPRAY. All due to the continuous fear that me or spot/scarring/cyst/redness or any form of “bad skin” may be visible".
After I interviewed Bekki about her skin issues. She kindly agreed to try my talc free makeup powder foundation.
Discover pure mineral makeup without talc.
She says:
I started Organic Make to help women, like you.
I make ONE powder foundation, without talc. I don't make the most makeup. I focus on the best ingredients so your skin, calms down.
All you need is an all-in-one, 100% natural powder foundation. No primer, no finishing powder needed.
Just ONE pot.
One good foundation product, you trust.
My powder foundation covers hyperpigmentation, skin irritations, bad breakouts, acne and other skin issues, without talc.
Imagine people come up and say "What have you done to your skin?"
Cause you've changed foundation.

I get it, breakouts, acne and bad acne are hard to cover.
Even though your friends tell you, that acne scarring doesn't make you ugly, there’s no denying that acne makes you, feel ugly.
Here's what Isabella told me when I interviewed her about her acne problems.
Isabella says: "I used to apply thick makeup every single day to the extent that I forgot what my actual face looked like.”
Though you’re not a teenager anymore, it’s difficult to be around other women who have perfect skin. Especially when you’re constantly bombarded with photoshopped models in adverts and heavily filtered instagram filters - of course you compare your own red itchy face to theirs.
It’s like your life is on hold until skin clears up. Even your foundation just slides off your face a few hours into the day, with a horrible cloggy feeling.
Now …
You wonder if makeup is the cause of more acne breakouts and pimples.
According to American Academy of Dermatology “Even women who would not otherwise have acne can develop acne cosmetica from wearing makeup.”
So what does acne cosmetica mean?
It means acne and pimples can get worse from makeup.
When makeup feels thick, cloggy, like you can’t really touch your face and skin can't breathe.
Then it's time to look at what's inside the pot you use.
Did you know, acne prone skin, is super cranky sensitive. Why you get sensations of itchiness and redness.
Now does it mean you can't enjoy makeup?
Here's my advice:
1. Look for most basic, pure products and work it up from there.
Use less makeup products on acne prone skin, that tends to break out.
2. Don’t hide skin imperfections behind thick layers of makeup.
Heavy liquid foundations feel like a mask on sensitive, acne prone skin. That “mask feel” effect is from synthetic silicones. Silicones smoothes on makeup and why acne skin gets worse.
3. Use makeup without talc.
Skin that breaks out easy get worse from talc. Talc feels like “polyfilla” on skin. Talc blocks pores and skin feels like it can’t breathe. Talc is a cheap filler used in both face powders and fluid foundations.
4. Use gentle makeup products
Use makeup products with no fragrance, no artificial colours. Avoid metallic pigments. It’s those that cause feelings of skin burn, itchiness and redness.
5. Use gentle skincare products.
Women with oily skin tend to “over cleanse” face too much. Using too harsh skincare product, like chemical exfoliators, strips natural oils from face. Skin get flaky and doesn’t hold makeup very well. Simple routines are better.
Now...
Your'e not alone to feel overwhelmed by the number of acne “cures” out there. It’s easy to be swayed by the latest miracle concealer or primer you see in the beauty aisles, but does new equal better?
And does it even work on real woman’s skin?
Make no mistake. There's makeup out there that effectively targets acne prone skin. And many of these makeup products use the same pore clogging ingredients, like mineral oil, silicones and talc.
My brand takes a serious approach to pore-clogging ingredients. And that’s Organic Make.
Here's what Bekki says from @yours_sincerely_acne. She tried my "Mineral Powder Foundation".
The whole idea behind Organic Make is less makeup is better for you and the planet. You shouldn’t have to be slaves to dozens of different makeup products – especially with sensitive, acne prone skin.
You should be able to simplify your makeup routine, and pare down to just a few items that allow you to look your best, without clogging pores. At the same time leave skin to breathe, so it stays calm.
That’s why I, Charlotte Fnug, created Organic Make a line of all-in-one powder foundation – known as “Powder Wonders” - they easily replace everything in your makeup bag. The all-in-one Mineral Powder Foundation comes in three different shades, yet covers most skin colours.
Mineral powder foundation is long lasting, yet feel so light and natural. It "warms up" and settles on your face a little while after applying and adhere to your skin really well. Your skin look fresh and radiant. Does not block pores.

Most liquid foundations feel like "plaster effect" on skin. Your skin can't breathe.
You can't really touch your face with foundation.
Now...you don’t want to go makeup-less.
But sensitive skin needs gentler solutions.
Mineral Makeup is far gentler. Mineral makeup is less well known, than conventional liquid foundations. Mineral makeup has excellent skin benefits.
Pure natural mineral makeup feels light and breathable with amazing coverage.
Mineral Makeup, is also natural makeup.
When it comes to real pure mineral makeup, you may be surprised.
Loose mineral foundation doesn’t contain any binders.
Pressed powder compacts, also called “solid” powder foundations, has binders.
To make pressed solid powders in a machine, you need oil and water. Water and oil can’t mix. You need binders to hold it together. Then preservatives to avoid contamination.
This is how you make conventional solid pressed powder foundations.
Now ...
To make pure mineral makeup WITH NO binders. Mineral powder foundation must to be loose.
Guess you think loose mineral powder foundation is a nightmare where you cake up looking wild and vampire-ish.
I'm telling you. It's not.
Let’s dig deeper...
What is mineral makeup? Let’s go back in time. Ever seen tribes like Aboriginals, bush people from Africa, native Americans. They used to beautifully paint bodies and faces for decoration, war paint or camouflage. They’ve always lived with and in nature. They've used treasures from the soil to paint their bodies and faces for tribal ceremonies and rituals.
They had to use what they found in nature.
Things like clay minerals are finely grained from natural rock and soil. All natural ingredients found in nature. Look to the Peruvian Andes you find the incredible Rainbow Mountains. The mountain is striped with colours ranging from turquoise to lavender to maroon and gold. Red colouration of sedimentary layers often indicates iron oxide rust as a trace mineral.
In Mauritius you have seven colours earths, a small area of sand dunes compromising sand of seven distinct colours (red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow).
Australian outback clay, Africa and South America are rich with micro minerals and mica comes from large crystals mined from granitic pegmatites. Mica mineral (uncoloured and pure) is used.
Tribal minorities have used the soil for its natural pureness to cover and paint skin forever.
This is the idea behind pure Mineral Makeup. It’s skin friendly to women with sensitive skin. The unique natural ingredients are found in nature.
Inorganic mineral pigments are milled for hours, to fuse with micro particle micas. A combination of an array of natural micro minerals crushed carefully, mica with natural beautiful oxidess and ph neutral organic clays mined from deep within the outback are carefully blended.
Natural opacifiers, titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are blended with the purest gentle organic clays and mica mineral (uncolours & pure) to provide right amount coverage and colour.
This is the secret behind real pure mineral makeup..…the secret is the luxurious natural ingredients.
Pure Mineral Makeup is the most beautiful and natural colour cosmetics available. Makeup Artist rave about the coverage and flawless finish achieved with natural mineral foundation powders.
These pigments lay on top of the skin and provide flawless finish with extraordinary coverage. Almost invisible and light as if you wear no makeup at all.
Perfect cover for any imperfections. Mineral makeup colours range from very fair to darker skin types.
Covering all skin types. It all depends how the different earthy tones of minerals are mixed together into mineral powder foundations.
Be prepared to experience luxurious velvet soft mineral powders.
One of the secrets and why pure mineral makeup is loved by makeup artist, dermatologists and skincare clinics is how the skin looks after application. Skincare clinics rave about the benefits of natural oxides and micro minerals for post dermabrasion treatments.
Don’t be skeptical about using mineral powder foundation. Foundation is almost invisible on skin. Your face colour evens out. Under eyes, blemishes, redness everything is covered up. Improve skins natural appearance naturally.
You don't feel like wearing makeup. Feels light on skin. Just a few strokes of soft mineral powder covers uneven skin tone naturally. Same times hide occasional blemishes and blotches. It doesn’t look like you wear makeup at all. It’s easy to improve blotchy skin not having to fiddle with liquid foundation. You build up layers for coverage. After sports skin often tend to be hot and red, a few strokes calm down any redness.
Pure mineral makeup is safe for most women to use, due its naturalness. That said you should always test if in doubt. More and more women, like you, struggle with allergies and have concerns about chemical ingredients in makeup. And yes … it's cowboy land. Years back the beauty industry sold cosmetics where no ingredients were even listed on products. These days you are able to look up ingredients on any cosmetic product.
Confused, don’t buy. Ask.
Do you have allergy and been tested for an ingredient? Avoid that ingredient. In most makeup artificial dyes, perfumes and bismuth oxychloride are irritants for skin. Feelings of redness, burning sensations and itchiness are more and more common from those three ingredients.
Pure natural mineral makeup brands will not use those three ingredients in their powders. You’ll notice a difference once you try pure natural mineral makeup. No burning sensation and a new feeling skin feels calm. Mineral makeup tends to be gentler options for those who are very sensitive and react easily. In doubt one should always test (and not all brands are made equal).
Mineral makeup doesn't feel heavy, nor will you look “made up”. Looks natural and feels light due to natural ingredients. It's the most natural makeup out there. Pure mineral makeup is great alternative when you want to avoid toxic chemicals in your makeup. Fewer ingredients are used. Most sourced from nature.
Side note:
Most makeup and hair colour brands in the beauty market use artificial dyes in colour cosmetics. How it is. Bright neon green eyeshadow is not possible to make without artificial dyes. This is not rocket science.
Even so called “natural makeup brands” can use artificial dyes. You might have to ask what colour agent they use.
There’s lots of green washing taking place within the beauty industry. Natural makeup brands claim they are green/natural but are they really? More and more consumers want greener products for their household, food and cosmetics.
Even so called “mineral makeup brands” are found to use artificial dyes for colours. Minerals are coated and washed with artificial dyes. Just saying.
This is something to pay attention to, when you want pure and natural.
Works miracles on combination and breakout prone skin. Shiny skin, not necessarily oily, but shiny with large pores show less. Mineral powder foundation feels light and evens skin tone with amazing coverage. Does not bring attention to pores.
The minerals luxurious soft pressed ph neutral organic clays calm and help control shine naturally. Goes on light. Doesn’t have the caked on feeling. The matte finish looks smooth and blends perfect. Still feels very light. Skin feels light-weight and non-greasy with pure mineral makeup.
Mineral powder foundation looks natural with light finish. You never look caked on. Does not clog mature skin. Not heavy on skin. The inevitable fine lines, wrinkles, etc. even though they are there, mineral powder foundation doesn't enhance them.
Also covers red deep thread veins. Doesn't settle into the creases the way other foundation does. Feels light and doesn't feel slimy or cakey. Texture is creamy, so you don't get the drying feel on skin. With age the natural glow in skin reduces for some to a dull look. You’ll notice people start commenting "What you have done to your skin?", brings natural “glow” to skin.
You don't have to reapply during the day. Not needed. So there's less stuff in your purse to bring around. Huge convenience, if you love simple living. Mineral makeup is all about how one product will do both for you and the environment. Want to cut down on beauty products you use, mineral makeup is good option. One mineral powder foundation cover needs.
Who on earth has time in the mornings to do all those makeup tricks, you see from you-tubers and instagrammers. Are you a professional woman, with children, fast application is perfect for rush mornings.
Mineral powder foundation is easy to swirl on your face. No need to contour first with different sticks and creams prior foundation. One mineral powder foundation last all day. A little goes a long way. Great for skin, great for your purse. Less spending
Pure mineral makeup doesn’t rub off. Wash off with mild soap and water. No need for any special makeup removers.
Not recommended … but if you happen not to wash your face at night and wake up the next morning. You’ll see your face looks okay enough to run out on errands, with very little touching up.
That speaks to the staying power of mineral makeup. That's important, it stays put. Even in the summer you can wear it without worrying it will smear or slip off. It’s sweat resistant.
Pure mineral powder foundation goes on quick and easy. There’s no “makeup line” or a look of overdone. It’s makeup without any of the streaky goopy stuff. It softens skin imperfection, without looking like you’ve painted face orangey.
Wears like light weight makeup, without the feel of wearing a mask. Great alternative to liquid foundations. Skin looks and feels natural.
Pure Mineral Makeup brands sourced from reliable vendors. If serious, they'll state their opinion on animal testing. Most mineral makeup is natural makeup at best.
Mineral makeup is generally safe to use and has demonstrated little to no side effects. To most it feels gentle to wear. Especially sensitive skin types.
Known problems are:
Mineral powder foundation appears chalky. Foundation doesn’t cover and powder looks blotchy. You brush on, and it wipes right off. Have to put several times on and still no coverage. Feels more like a sheer powder, no coverage whatsoever.
Mineral powder foundation doesn’t cover well, seem not to cover any imperfections. Skin feels dry from mineral makeup.
There's the problem.
The reason:
In conventional makeup, most powder foundations contain talc. You find talcum powder in conventional makeup, natural makeup and even in mineral makeup. Talcum powder is an ingredient worth paying attention to.
Talcum powder is “first” ingredient in most makeup products. It's a cheap, white powder base used in the beauty industry.
Real pure mineral makeup doesn’t use talcum powder. Just pure crushed minerals. Some mineral makeup brands use talcum powder to dilute minerals. It’s cheaper to produce. You, as consumer, feel the coverage is bad.
You should pay attention when mineral makeup brands “sell a primer”. They say it’s a product you “need” before you apply mineral powder foundation.
Or they sell “ a veil” or "setting powder". They say you need to cover (set) mineral foundation.
They know ONE product doesn’t cover your skin. Because they deluite their minerals.
Real pure mineral makeup WILL cover skin. One powder foundation is enough.
Side note: To dilute they use talcum powder, corn starch and rice flower.
Do you have problematic skin or acne prone skin? and cover skin with face powders to keep shine away during the day.
Listen to me now.
Most powder foundation, both loose and pressed, contain talcum powder.
Talcum powder is overseen by lots of teenagers and women, who suffer from acne prone skin. Talcum powder both irritates skin, clog pores so condition gets worse. Imagine a pimple covered in talcum powder, it can’t breathe - it’s clogged.
You might want to start to avoid talcum powder in makeup, if you face this issue of constant breakouts. Talcum is not good.
I don't use talc in my mineral makeup brand.
Bismuth Oxychloride is potentially an irritant. Can cause itchiness sensations to skin. Sensitive skin easily feels irritated, often with itchiess and redness.
Bismuth Oxychloride is used in the beauty industry. Most mineral makeup brands use the ingredient. If you have tried mineral makeup before and had that sensation of itchiness, it might be bismuth. And felt "I don't like this feeling".
Then it's time to put Bismuth Oxychloride on your radar.
It’s a lustrous pearly ingredient that add shimmer in makeup. It is metal crushed into very fine particles. Used in most makeup.
More and more women get irritation from Bismuth Oxychloride. I don't use Bismuth.
Get pure mineral makeup with no bismuth
Real pure Mineral Makeup requires just one product for entire face. Contain no cheap fillers, minerals have not been diluted. A little goes a long way. No primer, no setting powder is needed.
Simply one pot will do. It’s that simple.
Mineral powder foundation is easy to apply. Just put powder into the cap. Swirl Kabuki brush into powder. Buff your skin in circles with Kabuki brush.
Feels so light on skin. Covers well.

]]>The hottest niche topic in beauty now is vegan. Lots of buzz-words are being slammed left and right natural, green, clean, plant based, organic, cruelty-free. It’s difficult to understand what it means when it comes to beauty.
For this article let’s look at vegan makeup.
Is vegan makeup better for your skin?
Let´s first look at what is vegan makeup?
Simply put its makeup without any animal ingredients according to The Vegan Society in UK. A certifying body in the UK and first company to create the word “vegan” in 1944.
The manufacture and/or development of the makeup product, and where applicable its ingredients, must not involve, or have involved, the use of any product, by-product or derivative. Common animal-derived ingredients found in most conventional makeup include beeswax, lanolin and carmine.
Take beeswax (Cera Alba) it’s a wax secreted by honey bees. Beeswax is used as an emollient especially in cosmetics and personal care products that require a creamy consistency.
You find beeswax in products like mascara, lip glosses, lip balms, concealers… it’s an ingredient you find in LOTS of makeup. Vegan makeup brands avoid beeswax (we see synthetic beeswax alternatives).
Lanolin comes from wool from sheep. Referred to as wool grease or fat. It’s a wax secreted by the sebaceous glands of wool bearing domestic sheep. Lanolin and its derivatives to protect and treat dry skin conditions from climate and the environment.
Lanolin is used in cosmetics and personal care product to moisture. Lanolin is widely used in lip balms, eye and facial makeup. Gives skin a soft smooth appearance, helps to form emulsions.
Vegan makeup brands avoid lanolin (we see synthetic lanolin alternatives).
Carmine is the aluminium lake of the colouring agent, cochineal beetle, a natural pigment derived from the dried family insect Coccos cacti (cochineal). Carmine is used for its bright red pigment in formulation of makeup products. So this red colour agent comes from beetles. In general in makeup you find colour pigments, artificial dyes.
These dyes are used to colour different eyeshadows, blushes and foundations etc. A neon green eyeshadow comes from these dyes. So called “green” makeup brands are known to use artificial dyes that are derived from animals, like carmine. The red pigment.
Vegan makeup brands avoid carmine. Just so you are aware.
To apply makeup you need makeup brushes. Lots of makeup brushes come from animal hairs, like goat hair and pony hair. But you find alternative makeup brushes where no animal hair is used.
Vegan makeup is about avoiding any animal testing and probably the reason why most people look for vegan products. More and more makeup brands take a stand on being “cruelty-free”. EU has banned animal testing since 2009. EU also banned the sale of cosmetics products or ingredients subject to new animal testing after March 2013. However, cosmetic animal testing remains legal in most other countries.
So if you look for vegan makeup you might look for makeup brands made in Europe due to tight rules. There you find makeup brands that manufacture according to EU cosmetic regulations. EU is on the front when it comes to animal testing and banned ingredients. In EU 1300 something cosmetics ingredients are banned and restricted.
Take US FDA has just 11. A huge difference. In future it’s all about no animal testing and no animal derived ingredients. The world is big and not every country is alike. Take China they require makeup brands to test on animals before a makeup brand can enter China. Even if its EU produced and approved. This is what China requires.
Don’t let the word “vegan makeup” confuse you. A makeup brand that claim vegan can still produce makeup products with lots of chemicals. Just because it’s vegan and cruelty-free does not mean it’s healthy.
The ingredient list can contain unhealthy chemicals and fillers too. Most makeup products is produced with chemicals. Why it’s important you read the ingredient list. Called INCI.
Some makeup products can’t be done without chemicals due to contamination of products. Makeup will go mold if not done right. Imagine mascara that is mold, not good for eyes.
So “vegan” doesn’t always mean good for your health. But … most makeup brands that claim vegan makeup will use natural or “plant-based” ingredients. Most vegan makeup tends to be more natural and green brands. It is important to look up ingredients and read brand ethos.
You eat and live a vegan lifestyle and concerned that your makeup contain all sorts of different ingredients. To avoid animal testing and no animal derived ingredients in makeup one way is start to look for vegan makeup.
More and more consumers are looking for vegan beauty products. It pushes beauty brands to be open about their ethics and ingredients they use. These days the internet is transparent and makeup brands can’t hide.
Beauty retailers are starting to pay attention to this beauty niche. Bigger beauty retailers are allocating space to vegan beauty brands. It used to be selected hippie health stores that would carry natural makeup.
These days more vegan makeup brands are launching and beauty retail is paying attention too. So next time you shop beauty, might be time to ask “where the vegan makeup selection?”
Most vegan makeup brands tend to use more natural ingredients. Whether a vegan makeup product fit your skin type depends. Always do a patch test on your skin. It all comes down to a test if you are very sensitive or you are in doubt that a makeup product fit skin.
Why, you can never say a vegan makeup product is better for your skin. It all depends. People who seem to favor vegan products have chosen vegan lifestyle with conscious choice.
